Math Counts is an enrichment, coaching and competition program designed to increase
enthusiasm for and enhance achievement in Middle School mathematics. Schools around
the world participate in yearly MATHCOUNTS programs and competitions and ASB is no
exception. Students interested in MATHCOUNTS meet weekly from October through February
and take part in a final two-day competition involving other international schools.
MS Model United Nations is a learning experience for students who want to refine their
speaking, debating, writing and researching skills. MUN seeks to engage students in a Model
United Nations General Assembly experience so that they can learn the complexities and
politics of international diplomacy. This club will meet regularly throughout the year before
traveling to Singapore for an international MS MUN Conference with hundreds of students
from other international schools.
The Middle School Writers club is an extracurricular activity for young adult authors. It is open
to all interested students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades, giving participants a different audience
and experience than their normal Language Arts class provides them with. Ultimately,
students’ final pieces are compiled and showcased in front of their peers and parents at the
end of the season.
Destination Imagination (DI)
The DI group is an activity that runs once a week for 2 seasons. The students learn to
collaborate and create with other like-minded students. Students work in areas that focus
on structural, scientific and technical simulations and involve improvisation on a variety of
different topics. They showcase their final product in a DI celebration in conjunction with
other schools in Mumbai.
Athletics is a cornerstone of student activities at ASB. We believe that the athletic program
at ASB should reflect and support the school’s mission and core values. Athletics contributes
significantly to the total development of every student. ASB serves all of our students through
two distinct, yet mutually supportive programs:
1. Inter-scholastic Sports Program
2. Intramural Sport Program
Sport is integral to the individual, social and cultural development. At ASB, we model the
enduring values of sport: good sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, resilience and
healthy competition. We develop these values by learning from our victories, our losses,
the day-to-day challenges of practice and our efforts to find balance between our athletic,
academic and personal lives. As teachers, coaches and student athletes, we strive to excel
by being clear about our common goals and by being loyal to each other and to our values.
